I recently spent the weekend in the North of Scotland with my family. We had a lovely little house in the centre of Aviemore and spent our time there relaxing by the fire, drinking, and getting competitive with Articulate. However, being surrounded by beauty means lots of exploring and admiring! Here’s some photos – that are beautiful if I do say so myself – of our trip up North…
We took a trip to the spectacular Highland Wildlife Park:
And as we were looking around the wild cat section of the park, something caught our eye. We lightly tiptoed around the enclosures and saw a beautiful little red squirrel (aah!) who’d come to say hello. He sat right down in his enclosure and ate the nuts he’d collected. It was pretty amazing!
We also visited the Cairngorms mountain and embraced the crystal-clear, fluffy snow…
And, of course, enjoyed the incredible views from the summit:
And the last activity that we wanted to do whilst in the area was visit Loch Morlich, which was certainly worth the trip…
When a lot of tourists come to Scotland, they tend not to go up to the North. It’s understandable as it’s rather difficult to travel up north without renting a car, but it’s truly a shame. The North has so much going for it, and driving just ten minutes away from the lovely, little town of Aviemore, we saw so much nature and beauty, it’s hard to believe it’s been right on my doorstep my whole life.
I always have been and always will be proud to be Scottish and this trip only strengthened my love for my country.
